ABOUT RESTLESS DEVELOPMENT & BACKGROUND
Restless Development is a global agency for youth led development – everything we do is led by and through young people. Listening to young people over the last 30 years, our priorities are set by what young people are demanding. Gender is critical to everything we do – in our work on sexual and reproductive health, accountability, economic empowerment and more. We work with young women and girls, as well as young men and boys, and we seek to tackle gender inequality, norms and discrimination in everything we do. However, we know that the gender power dynamics that young people face and participate in are highly complex. To remain at the cutting edge of our field and ensure that we are truly able to work with young people as they tackle gender inequalities and power dynamics, we want to push ourselves further.
We also want to explore gender and gender transformative approaches with our partners. Tikambe – Let’s Talk is a project designed to address the underlying challenges to effective implementation of Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE), through monitoring, generating evidence, and advocating around young people’s priorities. One of the key components is the coordination of The National Alliance on Monitoring the Implementation of ESA-CSE, a national coalition of youth-focused civil society organisations. The Alliance is set up to generate evidence, advocate, facilitate dialogue with decision makers and provide an amplified, coordinated voice on youth priorities in sexual and reproductive health and rights, and CSE. The Alliance is designed to have a strong gender focus, and this consultancy will also need to test and strengthen the Alliance members’ understanding and expertise in gender transformative approaches.
